Muslim groups advise parents, leaders
Also, another group, Muslim Rights Concern, advised parents and guardians to report strange behaviour noticed in their children and wards to the appropriate authorites.
The groups spoke in a statement against the backdrop of a 23-year-old Nigerian, Umar Farouk Abdulmuttalab, who was arrested after he allegedly tried to blow up a Detroit-bound transatlantic flight with 278 passengers on Friday.
According to a statement by MPAC’s Director of Media and Communications, Disu Kamor, on Monday, “As Muslims, it is our responsibility- young and old, parents, sons and daughters, teachers and students, leaders and activists- to positively and constructively intervene in the affairs of our youth to make sure they have a good understanding of Islam so that no extremist will play upon them.”
