Education Commissioner commends Owan Association
This commendation was made by the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ngozi Osarenren during the presentation ceremony of the school chalks to secondary schools in Owan East and West Local Government Areas by the Association of Owan People in California, USA.
“I like to express my profound gratitude to Owan people in general and to its sons and daughters in California, USA who have identified with Edo State Government in its quest to give quality education to our children in schools,” she noted.
She said the delivery of quality education in schools and institutions is the major focus of the administration of Governor Adams Aliu Oshiomhole adding that the good intentions and strategic plans encompass good school infrastructures, the provision of instructional materials, as well as motivated teachers to ensure effective and efficient teaching/learning in schools and institutions.
According to her, the Association of Owan People in California has by this wonderful gesture of the donation of school chalk of nine cartons each to all secondary schools in Owan East and West Local Government Areas demonstrated that they are development partners with the government of Edo State for this positive contribution.
She therefore solicited the assistance of the community heads to mobilize school age children in their communities to enroll, attend and complete schooling, stressing that the community heads are expected to strengthen the Head Teachers' hands in managing schools to increase the level of discipline in schools by ensuring regularity and punctuality of school attendance of both pupils/students and teachers.
The Commissioner for Education appealed to other Associations, home and abroad, community members, faith based organizations, community based organizations, non governmental organizations and institutions to emulate what the Association of Owan People in California, USA has done by investing in the lives of the children and the Education sector.
She also enjoined the principals who are receiving the school chalks to make judicious use of them as this will go a long way to encourage the development partners as well as would be donors.
